Is it possible to be a full-time, self-supporting working visual artist in today's society?

I believe so. But this depends on if the artist truly loves doing Art and wouldn't do anything else. But to be financially secure as an artist depends on how you advertise your self to get art jobs or if you can land a Art job with a big company that will pay you a living wage. Now the main thing today is if the Artist is going to work in Media then the artist has to be well versed in doing digital art and knowledge of digital art software and AI and to able to handle what ever their Boss or Bosses ask for . Now there are Artists that run there own business and sell their own art but this depends on how much work the artist puts into their business and how they advertise and get customers. Financially they might make enough money or not make enough. It also depends on the type of Art they do. If an artist designs and prints T-shirts by screen printing or heat press then they could make a living or a business in mural painting could also make a living or graphic designing for small businesses could also make a living. Interior design is another art business for homes and businesses. Some Artists become teachers or run their own small art school studio . But there are artist has to put in the work to make their Art business thrive. Sign making is another art business. So be creative and work at it if that's what you want to do. Good luck!
